Vďaka medializovanej kauzy Gorila http://sk.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kauza_Gorila, ktorá vyhnala v januári 2012 desaťtisíce nahnevaných občaniek a občanov do ulíc slovenských miest a mnohých občanov naštartovala do takej mieri, že aj po odznení vlny protestov Gorila po uliciach, sa začlenili do rôznych skupín, komunít a občianskych združení.

Protesty však priviedli na svet svoje dieťa petíciu Za lepšie Slovensko, http://orig.spravodlivereferendum.sk/. Umožňuje sfunkčnenia referenda - "referendum o referende" ako jediného legitímneho nástroja v rukých občanov v správe veci verejných a spôsobiť ako zmeniť veci k lepšiemu. Protesty dali povel k štartu na dlhé trate, niektorí odpadli, iný odišli nabok a stali sa divákmi a ostala len vytrvala skupinka bežcov. Aktívni členovia OZ PD ma oslovili svojím nadšením a tempom pri zbieraní podpisov pod petíciu Za lepšie Slovensko. Našiel som cestu, cieľ a priateľov. Čo som stále nezískal boli vedomosti a praktizované skúsenosti priamej demokracie. Ale ako systém parlamentnej a priamej demokracie ladení od roku 1870 do takmer dokonalej podoby previesť na Slovensko? Po komunikácii so švajčiarskym Ministerstvom zahraničných veci má odporúčajú na Initiative & Referendum Institute Europe (IRI) vedenú Brunom Kaufmannom, http://www.iri-europe.org/, ten ma doporučil na občianske združenia v Nemecku http://www.mehr-demokratie.de/ a Rakúsku http://www.mehr-demokratie.at/. Skúsil som susedov rakúskych kolegov z Mehr Demokratie a nadviazal som kontakt s milým a veľmi ochotným predsedom Erwinom Leitnerom. Dostal som pozvánku do Viedne na konferenciu o Európskej občianskej iniciatíve, kde som sa s ním zoznámil a následne ma zoznámil s Brunom Kaufmannom z IRI a predsedom Democracy International a poslancom európskeho parlamentu za nemeckú stranu Zelených Gerhardom Häfnerom, obidvaja už boli v Bratislave, vyslovili plnú podporu našej skupine (tvorená členmi OZ PD a sympatizantmi) a dali slovo, že na naše pozvanie prídu radi do Bratislavy opäť, aby naše úsilie v budovaní priamej demokracii podporili. Obidvaja sú uznávanými spičkami v rozvoji priamej demokracii v Európe a vo svete.

A to bol začiatok spolupráce s Democracy International (ďalej DI) so sídlom v Kolíne nad Rýnom v Nemecku. Potom začala komunikácia s výkonnými pracovníkmi tejto organizácie s Rolandom Pabstom, neskôr s Danielom Schillym a Corou Pfafferott. Po získaní dostatočných informácii a dôvery v nás, došlo na jeseň 2012 k prvej návšteve Rolanda Pabsta do Bratislavy, kde sa stretol so skupinou členov OZ PD a jej sympatizantov http://www.democracy-international.org/ ... -activists. Spolupráca a dôvera v našu skupinu narástla do takých rozmerov, že si nás zvolili za partnerov na uskutočnenie Medzinárodnej konferencie The Danube Democracy Rally, http://www.democracy-international.org/ ... racy-rally, konajúcej sa v Bratislave v priestoroch hotela Sorea Regia v dňoch 3-6.apríla 2014. Druhá 3 dňová návšteva Rolanda Pabsta a jeho spolupracovníka Daniela Schillyho nasledovala do Bratislavy v lete 2013, kde pri príležitosti vybavenia kongresových priestorov za našej výdatnej pomoci sa stretli v Primaciálnom paláci s našimi členmi OZ PD a sympatizanti na tému „Ako budovať organizácie priamej demokracie“, ukončené s priateľským posedením v miestnej pivárni. V prípade záujmu nám prisľúbili možnosť prijať niekoľkých členov na 1-2 týždňovú návštevu u nich v Kolíne, kde je zároveň aj pracovisko miestnej pobočky Mehr Demokratie (Democracy International vznikla ako nadstavba Mehr Demokratie a práve v roku 2002 mala svoje prvé medzinárodné stretnutie v priestoroch Ústavu pre vzdelávania na Bardošovej ulici v Bratislave), na získanie priamych skúsenosti, ako budovať a viesť organizácie priamej demokracie s ich 22 ročnými skúsenosťami, čo by mám veľmi pomohlo.
Pre rok 2014 boli vybrané tri hlavné podunajské mesta Viedeň, Bratislava, Budapešť, kde v dňoch 1-9. apríla 2014 bude postupne etapovite prebiehať táto Medzinárodná konferencia. Do Bratislavy zamieri približne stovka účastníkov zo všetkých kútov sveta ku ktorým sa môže pridať pozvaná odborná i laická verejnosť, pozvaní politici a média zo Slovenska, aby sa na tri dni zamerali na to ako podporiť priamu demokraciu, sfunkčniť inštitút referenda na Slovensku, ale aj v ostatných krajinách sveta.
